At Last! Seeing Is Believing!!

Keep your eyes on Jeffers Park, folks, things are finally happening.
We are pleased to announce that a Building Committee with a strong positive
attitude has been formed to get things going and we wish to offer a special
thanks to Bob Reid for volunteering to chair the committee in this
monumental task.
Thanks to the community spirit and generosity of several businesses
as well as the time and effort of a number of community-minded individual
volunteers in Lavington, the Lavington Community Association is starting
construction of the building to house the refrigeration equipment for the
activity pad. As we previously informed you, Okanagan Spring Brewery
donated this equipment to the LCA. Again, we wish to thank them for their
generosity and, thank our Ref Mech Bill French for his time and effort.
Preparation of the site for the building is expected to be completed
by the end of next week, with the use of the excavating equipment being
donated by Floyd Edwards and labour by Lenz Hug. Building plans have
been drafted by Tony Parchomchuk, which allow for a machine room, storage
for the Zamboni, sports equipment & a unisex washroom. Our special thanks
to Floyd, Lenz, Tony & Waldi Goll who is donating his time to supervise the
construction.
We will keep you informed regarding the progress of the construction as
well as offering thanks to the various donors of building materials and
related volunteer labour.
As you are all well aware, projects like this take time &
unfortunately money. The LCA & other community volunteers have committed
their time to provide our residents with a park for everyone. Future plans
include a firepit & covered area for picnics, etc. So, we come to the
unfortunate part, money. As you know, the LCA is a nonprofit group and
except for the receipt of lottery funds, we do not have a steady cash flow to
allow us to move ahead quickly on improvements. Therefore, any donations of
building materials, volunteer labour and, of course, financial support,
would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or contributions to make regarding Jeffers
Park, please contact either Bob Reid, Chairman Building Committee, at
545-3168 or Elaine Lloyd, President Lavington Community Association
at 545-6926.
